State Rep. Tarik Khan

Tarik has served our community as a nurse for over two decades — and as State Representative, he’s fighting for a Pennsylvania that works for everyone!

First elected in 2022, Tarik is a Democrat representing the 194th District in the Pennsylvania State House.

Tarik has passed legislation to addresses safe staffing for nurses, affordable housing, medical debt cancellation, and honoring religious diversity. He also helped write several dozen more bills focusing on improving access to quality healthcare, passing common sense gun reform, addressing our climate crisis, and reforming our broken criminal justice system.

Now in his second term after his re-election in 2024, Tarik continues to put his training in healthcare and research to good use to find solutions for our community, our city, and our commonwealth.

As State Representative, Tarik has:

  • 9 bills signed into law by Gov. Josh Shapiro

  • Brought over $60 million back to our community

  • Passed additional legislation to help:

    • Regulate Sports & Online Gambling to reduce problem gambling behaviors, gambling debt, and the exposure of children to sports betting

    • Veterans Exposed to Agent Orange & Other Toxins to examine how to best connect veterans and their families with VA benefits
