Environmental Justice and Infrastructure
Our city is at a tipping point – facing the overlapping crises of global warming, public disinvestment, and economic inequality. As State Representative, I have brought back $5.5 million to the Queen Lane Water Treatment Facility to protect our clean drinking water, because I know that our infrastructure is ill-prepared for the effects of our climate crisis, as we saw recently with Hurricane Ida and other severe storms affecting Manayunk’s Main Street, Ridge Avenue in East Falls, and beyond. The future of our environment affects all of us – and no one more so than our working-class and marginalized communities.
Global warming and environmental racism are real health crises. Too many of our children face the health effects of breathing in toxic air. This is one of the reasons I got involved in the fight against the liquified gas plant (LNG) in Northwest Philadelphia back in 2019.
Our district also contains the Wissahickon Valley Park, which is not just a beautiful treasure, but a source of one-third of Philadelphians’ drinking water. As State Representative, I’m proud to have brought nearly $1 million of state funding back to support the Wissahickon.
I will:
